TTCU collecting school supplies through Aug. 31

Posted: Jul 25, 2019 | Author: TTCU The Credit Union

TTCU Federal Credit Union in Tulsa, Okla., launched Project School Supplies, itsTTCU Project School Supplies Logo annual school supply drive, on July 15. With the average cost of school supplies rising to over $100 a year, many households struggle to budget for the expense.

“At TTCU Federal Credit Union, we believe every child deserves to start the school year with the tools they need to succeed,” CEO and President Tim Lyons said. “Our school supplies drive is a joint effort by our employees and members to help those in need in our communities. As a credit union started by teachers, supporting education is an important part of the TTCU way of life.”

In its 18th year, Project School Supplies gives TTCU members, employees, and the general community the chance to provide help through conveniently located branches in northeastern and central Oklahoma. From July 15-Aug. 31, all TTCU branches will be collecting school supplies and monetary donations. Thousands of items are collected each year and distributed to 11 community partners.

Supplies and donations collected at the TTCU Tulsa and Jenks branches will go to Restore Hope Ministries for distribution to those in need. Last year, over 3,000 children received school supplies from Restore Hope, thanks in part to donations from TTCU.

“I love to see the look of excitement and hope on a child's face when he or she receives their school supply kit," says Rev. Jeff Jaynes, Restore Hope Ministries executive director. "Education is key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and these supplies give kids the tools they need to do just that. We want every child to start off the school year stress-free and with the same opportunities as their peers."
