Education CU announces new president and chief executive officer

Eric JenkinsThe $268 million Education Credit Union in Amarillo, Texas, has selected Eric Jenkins as its new president and chief executive officer.

“We are thrilled to have Eric take over the helm at Education Credit Union,” said Board Chairperson Duane Chapman. “He boasts an impressive resume and extensive experience across almost all areas of credit union operations. We are excited about what our organization can achieve under his leadership.”

Chapman also commended outgoing CEO Gregg Bynum for his service to Education Credit Union. “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Gregg for his leadership and friendship over the past 22 years. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

Jenkins brings with him wide-ranging credit union industry experience, having worked for credit unions of varying asset sizes, as well as credit union service organizations. He comes to Education CU from Georgia United Credit Union, in Duluth, Georgia, where he held the role of chief deposit services officer since 2014. In this role, Jenkins directed all areas of operations at the credit union, including loan and deposit operations, card services, payment services, and member support services. Prior to Georgia United CU, he served on the executive teams of CU Partner Link for two years and Georgia Credit Union Affiliates for four years. He previously led Palmetto Health Credit Union for 10 years.

Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science in business economics from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.

Education Credit Union has a strong brand presence in the greater Amarillo, Bushland, and Canyon community, and I look forward to continuing our commitment to improve the lives of our members and the communities we are privileged to serve.”
