HB 3163 by Rep. Drew Springer (R-Muenster) will require that new or repainted parking spots for persons with disabilities have the international symbol of access painted on the parking space and the words "No Parking" painted on the access aisle adjacent to the parking space. The sign identifying an accessible parking space must include a statement about the consequences of illegally parking in the space, including the towing of the vehicle or assessment of a fine or penalty.
Specialty license plates or temporary placards issued to those who are qualified for the accessible parking spots must include the laws governing parking for persons with disabilities and instructions for reporting violations.
The bill was passed by the House on a unanimous vote and moved to the Senate.
