The match compares accountholders' names, social security numbers (SSNs), or employer identification numbers (EINs) to delinquent taxpayer information for any taxes or fees administered by the Comptroller’s Office, such as sales taxes, franchise taxes, or tobacco taxes and fees.
The process is similar to the data match that financial institutions do for the Attorney General’s Office to collect delinquent child support payments. Credit unions would have 90 days to file a report with data matches and could not be asked to perform the match more than once each calendar quarter.
The bill was heard by the House Pensions, Investments, and Financial Services Committee and left pending.
