The 116th Congress convenes at noon today, Jan. 3, 2019, and members of the Cornerstone Credit Union League staff, along with credit unions from the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions, traveled to Washington, DC, to visit the offices of new members of the Texas congressional delegation.

Credit union CEOs in attendance include James Tuggle (Transtar FCU), Kenny Harrington (MemberSource CU), Paul Withey (Our Mother of Mercy FCU), David Bleazard (First Service CU), and Tim Adams (SPCO CU).

"The 116th Congress has generated a lot of enthusiasm around the country, and we're very optimistic that new and established legislators will be willing to work across party lines on key credit union issues," said Cornerstone Chief Government Relations Officer Jim Phelps. "Our visiting contingent will engage with the 10 Texas freshmen to begin building relationships that ensure credit unions are top of mind when lawmakers consider legislation."
