Texas Credit Union Commission Meeting Oct. 15

The Credit Union Commission will meet on Monday, Oct. 15, at 8:30 a.m. at the Credit Union Department Building, 914 East Anderson Lane in Austin.

The Commissioner Evaluation Committee has referred two candidates for interviews by the full Commission for possible appointment as the next Credit Union Commissioner. The interviews and possible selection of the new commissioner are on the agenda.

At its July meeting, the Commission approved for publication and comment in the Texas Register the proposed amendments to Rule 91.121, which provides that the Commission maintain a system to promptly and efficiently act on complaints filed with the Department. One written comment was received supporting the proposed amendments to the rule.

The Commission also approved for publication and comment in the Texas Register the proposed amendments to Rule 91.403 to update standards governing debt cancellation products. Three written comments were received supporting the proposed amendments to the rule.

One written comment was received supporting the proposed amendments to proposed amendments to Rule 91.709, which modifies the definition of Member Business Loans with respect to 1-4 family dwellings, providing state credit unions parity with federal credit unions.

The proposed amendment to Rule 91.712, allowing a plastic card to be activated by logging into the card issuer’s website received one positive letter of support.

The Department’s FY 2018 financial performance, FY 2019 Budget, and the status of the state credit union system will be discussed.

New business will cover adoption of the completed rule review 7 TAC, Part 5, Chapter 94 concerning share and depositor insurance protection, re-adoption of the department’s equal employment and workforce diversity plan, and the status of the pilot program with NCUA.
