Credit unions are cooperative financial service institutions that exist to serve the members who own them, not to make a profit. They operate by seven cooperative principles, one of which is Concern for Community. While focusing on member needs, credit unions work for the development of their communities through policies and programs accepted by their members.
The Credit Unions Care campaign purpose is to increase visibility and awareness in the communities we serve by illustrating the many ways credit unions give back. Simply put, we want to ensure people understand that credit unions are not only financial partners but community partners; and in that spirit, Credit Unions Care will differentiate credit unions from others in the for-profit sector.
Credit Unions for Kids and Children's Miracle Network
One of the most notable ways credit unions give back is through their alliance with Credit Unions for Kids and the Children's Miracle Network.
62 children enter a Children's Miracle Network Hospital for treatment every minute. Whether they suffer from common childhood afflictions like asthma and broken bones, or fight bigger challenges like birth defects or cancer, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide comfort, treatment and hope to millions of sick kids. In fact, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals treat one in 10 children in North America each year.
CMN Hospitals treat millions of children every year; in fact, it is the world’s largest children’s charity. Each year, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals provide $3.4 billion in charity care supporting cutting edge, life-saving research, and develop new, innovative technology which eases pain and lengthens lives.

Throughout the Cornerstone region in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas our goal is to raise $1.3 million in 2018. Credit unions are encouraged to wear their red Credit Unions Care shirts, collect donations, hold fund raising events and golf tournaments to help us collectively reach that goal. If you are looking for some new ideas down load the document below with marketing support.
Be sure to share your success. Hang the paper donation dogs in your lobbies and post pictures at #cus_care.
Come back often and check on our progress.
Paper Donation Dogs
When collecting money for CMN we invite you to use the Credit Unions Care donation dogs. For every dollar donated members can write their name on a dog and proudly display it in the credit union for all to see. One hundred percent of all proceeds from donation dogs goes to the CMN Hospital which serves your community and your members. Donation dogs are free of charge and can be ordered along with red t-shirts and other supplies.
How to Submit Donations
