September 2019 Chapter Report

Welcome to Cornerstone Credit Union League's Chapter Report. This publication is issued at the start of every month to help keep your chapter and members informed about the latest news in government relations and related concerns.

This content can serve as some of the news for your chapter meetings or as content to lead discussions regarding grassroots advocacy, fundraising opportunities, PAC news and information, upcoming government relations and training events, and associated topics. Cornerstone training announcements and Foundation news can help you coordinate and plan chapter member participation around specific events.

You can find additional resources for chapter officers on the Cornerstonewebsite. We'll update this information as necessary.

If you have any questions about how to use this report or suggestions for topics you'd like to know about, please contact April Krause

Get Politically Engaged in Honor of ICU Day
ICU Day 2019International Credit Union Day, which this year falls on Oct. 17, celebrates the spirit of the global credit union movement. The day of festivities for credit unions and financial cooperatives globally includes fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics, volunteering and parades. It's not only credit unions that celebrate the day; chapters can also celebrate by holding fundraisers or other events in honor of the entire movement.

Why? Because on six continents and in 117 countries, credit unions serve more than 260 million members. On this 71st anniversary of ICU Day, the 2019 theme is "Local Service. Global Reach." This theme illustrates how credit unions and other financial cooperatives serve as catalysts to make different professions, personal choices, and career paths real.
Heads up! Watch for more information coming soon about Cornerstone's celebration of the spirit of the global credit union movement in our new PAC fundraising campaign:Capital Spirit for Credit Unions.

Is your chapter planning something special to recognize International Credit Union Day? Let us know. Contact Kimber Cockrill atkcockrill@cornerstoneleague.coopor Sherrel Barry

Have You Checked out Your Legislative Summary?
Just a reminder that your League has prepared summaries for the 2019 legislatures in all three Cornerstone states. The League works diligently to protect and advance all credit unions, so inside these summaries you'll find detailed descriptions of key legislation that may affect your credit union, whether federally or state chartered.

You can use the information in these reports as a basis for advocacy discussions, for planning your engagement activities for the next legislature, and for recruiting subject matter experts to speak at your upcoming chapter meetings.
