Cornerstone Foundation Announces Restructure

Apr 6, 2023, 14:32 PM by Cornerstone Foundation

PLANO, TEXAS, April 4, 2023 – Cornerstone Foundation, Cornerstone League’s 501 (c)(3) organization, has announced a new structure for 2023. The restructure includes exciting changes that will enable the organization to better serve credit unions and achieve its mission of empowering credit unions to make a difference in their communities.

Several events have led to Cornerstone Foundation’s restructure, starting with the departure of a financial capability director last year due to a family relocation. In late 2022, Development Director Staci Zale announced her plan to retire in April 2023 after 19 years of service. And as part of Cornerstone League’s merger with Heartland Credit Union Association, among the employees who joined the organization is Beth Falkenstein, formerly of Heartland Credit Union Charitable Foundation. She joined Cornerstone Foundation as impact manager.

“As a result of Cornerstone’s recent transformation, we took the opportunity to rethink the way we operate at the Foundation so we can leverage each person’s talents to best serve our credit unions,” said Cornerstone Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran.

Moran added that additional program management duties have been added to the Foundation’s grant management program, which prompted long-serving Program Manager Emily Moreno to be promoted to program director.

“Emily has been a faithful and avid steward of our programs since 2015,” said Moran. “This promotion was well-earned and I know she will continue to leverage her expertise to lead the Foundation’s programs passionately and expertly.”

With Zale’s impending departure, former Cornerstone Foundation Coordinator Angie Lutes has been tapped to fill the development director role. Lutes formally assumed the role on April 3.

“We are thrilled to have Angie take on this important role and look forward to the contributions she will make to the organization,” said Moran.

Additionally, Cornerstone Foundation has added a new employee to the fold: Connie Wells joined the Foundation as administrative coordinator on April 3.

The restructure is part of Cornerstone Foundation’s ongoing efforts to enhance its programs and services, and to ensure that it is well-positioned to meet the needs of its clients.
