Call for Nominations - League Board

Cornerstone is now accepting nominations for candidates to serve on the League Board of Directors.


  Cornerstone-District-MapThe Cornerstone League’s board of directors is comprised of 18 voting directors from six regions, represented by one director each from three asset-size categories; and 3 associate directors designated for at least one volunteer and one young professional and a third to be either a volunteer or young professional. The board is a democratic reflection of the League, representing nearly 600 member credit unions ranging from the smallest to the largest credit unions from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.

James S. Tuggle, Chairman
Region 1, Asset Category 1

James TuggleJames Tuggle is president and CEO of Transtar Federal Credit Union, Houston, Texas. Tuggle has been involved with credit unions since 1989 and is a graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School. He has also served as president (2009-2010) of the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions, as a TCUL PAC Trustee (2009-2010), and was the 2008 Southwest CUNA Management School class president. Tuggle actively supports advocacy and small credit union initiatives. He and his wife Dorinda have a son, James S. Tuggle IV. Additionally, Tuggle enjoys fishing, golfing, little league baseball with my son, and volunteering with La Rosa Family Services.

James Boyd, Vice Chairman

James BoydJames Boyd is CEO—a position he has held since 1992—of Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union, Abilene, Texas, where he has been employed since 1984. Boyd has served as a chapter president. He was elected to the League Board in 2004 and he served as Secretary-Treasurer (2012-2013). Boyd  also served the Credit Union Resources Board (2009-2011). He is Vice Chairman of Cornerstone's Governmental Affairs Committee and is a member of the CUNA Cooperative Alliance Committee. He is a Southwest CUNA Management School graduate (1993), and has been involved with the Abilene Education Council, including service as past chairman; past chairman of the Texas Scholars Committee; and currently chairs the Abilene March for Babies Campaign. Boyd, a scholar of military history, has four children and is married to Karen.

Tammy Passafiume

Tammy Passafiume is the President/CEO of Diamond Lakes Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Malvern, Arkansas.  She brings 26 years of credit union industry experience, having also served in leadership roles in the following organizations:  Arkansas Credit Union League Board of Directors, Vice President, Credit Union Resources Inc., CUNA Community Credit Union Committee, Vice Chair, Hot Spring County Chamber of Commerce, Hot Spring County Economic Development Commission, Hot Spring County Revolving Loan Fund Administration.

She is a graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School, Dale Carnegie Leadership Training for Managers, Dale Carnegie Effective Communications and Human Relations and Camden Area Leadership.  She attended Southern Arkansas University in Camden, Arkansas.

She enjoys her family, church and investing in the lives of our members and the communities we serve.

Melanie Kennedy, Treasurer

Melanie KennedyMelanie Kennedy is the President and CEO of Southwest Financial Federal Credit Union in Dallas, Texas. She began her credit union career as a part-time teller in 1994. Melanie has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in International Business and Spanish. She is a CUDE from the best class ever, January 2016. Melanie is a 2008 graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School - the great '08. She served on the Dallas Chapter Board of Directors from 2006-2014. Melanie recently adopted an amazing little girl.

Michael Kloiber, Past Chairman

Mike KloiberMichael Kloiber is President and CEO of Tinker Federal Credit Union, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kloiber began his career with credit unions in 1988, following 10 years in banking. He has served in his current capacity for more than 17 years. Kloiber is a board member and past chairman of the Credit Union Association of Oklahoma, and the Credit Union Shared Service Centers, Inc. of Oklahoma. He also serves as a board member and the past treasurer of the Oklahoma City Council of the Navy League of the United States, and he is a director and past chairman with the Better Business Bureau of Central Oklahoma. Currently, Kloiber serves on the board of the Defense Credit Union Council, and serves on the board as the past chairman of the Midwest City Chamber of Commerce. A highlight of his career was the three years he served on the Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council Member for Chairman Bernanke, and the board of governors for the Federal Reserve Bank in Washington, D.C. Kloiber is married to Pam and enjoys racquetball, holidays, and fishing. Oh, by the way, he really loves Credit Unions and our industry, too!

Jason Boesch

Jason Boesch

Jason Boesch has served as manager of Energize Credit Union in Oklahoma City since 1997. Boesch acts as a director and officer with the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) and serves the Credit Union Association of Oklahoma as a director, a government affairs committee chairman, and an audit committee chairman. He is also involved with the Oklahoma Credit Union PAC, working as a director and former vice chairman. In addition, Boesch serves as a director of the State Credit Union Board. 

Boesch has been honored with multiple awards, including the Oklahoma Troy Higgins Political Activist of the Year Awards and as a 2015 recipient of Cornerstone's Small Credit Union Achiever of the Year. Boesch works as a JAG Lt. Colonel with the Oklahoma Army National Guard, where he has served in the Guard/Reserves for 20 years. He is a CPA and a member of the Oklahoma State University Accounting Board and Oklahoma Sirloin Club. 

Melodie Brett

Melodie Brett

Melodie Brett has served as CEO of San Patricio Teachers FCU since 2000 and elected to the Board of Directors in 2015.  She previously worked in the banking industry for 25 years working her way up to Senior Vice President, Branch President, Cashier and Board Secretary.  Ms. Brett is a strong advocate of Credit Unions having worked for both a bank and credit union.

She is a graduate of Leadership Corpus Christi, Dale Carnegie and has been past Board President of Kiwanis Club International and Coastal Bend Youth City.  She has also been active with the National Kidney Foundation and United Way in her community.  She has served on an advisory committee for a local community college for financial courses. She is active in her church and enjoys traveling.

Z. Suzanne Chism

Suzanne Chism

Suzanne Chism began her involvement with credit unions as a volunteer, serving on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors (1977-80) and since 1980 as President and CEO of A New Direction CU in Dallas, Texas. 

Chism considers training and education a priority for credit unions and she leads by example: She has earned her CCUE designation and graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School (1990) and serves on the SCMS Alumni Board.  She also served on the Dallas Chapter board.  Chism has served on the League board of directors since 1999 upon her election to the Texas Credit Union League board. Throughout these years, she has served on numerous League committees, including the Executive Committee and as Director on the Credit Union Resources Board (2002-2013).  Presently, she is Chairman of the TCCUL PAC Trustees and is a member of the CUNA Awards Committee.

In her community, Chism is the VIPS (Volunteer in Police Service) Coordinator in Rowlett, serves as a SART (Sexual Assault Responsive Team) member, and is a member CERT.  She enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with friends.

Curtis C. Collins

Curtis Collins

Curtis Collins is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC FCU in Houston having served on the Board for 33 years; he began volunteering at the CU in 1965 as a member of the Credit Committee. Collins is a University of Houston graduate in business administration and human resources. In 2000 he earned his CUDE designation.  He served on the faculty of Southwest CUNA Management School. He also served on the Texas [now Cornerstone] Foundation Board (including 3 years as Chairman), and on the National Credit Union Foundation Board.

He originated the Houston Chapter Credit Union Volunteer Association having served as chairman and facilitating monthly programs for 15 years. He was named the League’s Credit Union Volunteer of the Year in 2003 and in 2010 inducted in the Texas Credit Union Hall of Leaders. Twice NAFCU named Collins Volunteer of the Year (in 2011 and 2000), and in 2011 the Credit Union Magazine awarded him the Trailblazer Volunteer of the Year Award.  

For over 50 years, Collins has worked in human resources management, spacecraft program and administrative support, and center operations support for the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston and received numerous awards including being named the Houston Area Professional Federal Employee of the Year in 1986.  Collins enjoys golf and traveling and he and his wife Barbara have 3 adult children and 7 grandchildren.

Sherry Gray
Region 5, Asset Category 3

Sherry GraySherry Gray is President and CEO of Northeast Arkansas FCU, Blytheville, Arkansas, a position she has held since 2013; having begun working with the credit union in 2005. Gray is an Arkansas State University graduate with a marketing degree, and is a graduate of Mid South School of Banking. Gray is an ARCUPAC Trustee and a strong advocate in support of the PAC. She is involved in the community which includes being a member of the Governmental Affairs Committee of the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Joseph "Joey" Griffith
YP Associate Director

Joey GriffithJoey Griffith is the Compliance Officer of Communication Federal Credit Union in Oklahoma City. Joey is a Credit Union Compliance Expert, Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Specialist, Enterprise Risk Management Expert, a Certified Compliance Officer and has traveled to Brazil to represent Cornerstone as part of the World Council of Credit Unions exchange program. He holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration from The University of Central Oklahoma, and is currently enrolled in CUNA Management School at The University of Wisconsin. Joey also serves on the Board of Directors of Meals on Wheels of Norman where he is the Volunteer Chair. He resides in Norman, Oklahoma with his wife Kari and daughter Anna Elizabeth.

Dale Hansard
Region 3, Asset Category 1

Dale Hansard

Dale Hansard received both his Bachelor of Business Administration and his Master of Business Administration from Midwestern State University. He is a graduate of the Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) program and a graduate of the Southwest CUNA Management School.

Hansard serves as the president/CEO of Caprock Federal Credit Union, as a member of the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Small Credit Union Committee, and a member of the Credit Union National Association’s Small Credit Union Committee.

In addition to his work at Caprock FCU and the Foundation board, Hansard volunteers with the Texas South Plains Honor Flight, helping Veterans tour memorials erected in their honor near Washington, D.C.

Kenny Harrington

Kenny HarringtonKenny Harrington—who began his career with a credit union in 1986, is president and CEO of MemberSource Credit Union, Houston, Texas. He was elected to the League board in 2012. Harrington has been a director of Credit Union Resources since 2002. He served as Resources chairman from 2013 to 2015. During this time he served as a trustee of the Foundation. He is a member of CUNA's 2014-15 Special CUNA Structure & Governance Task Force. He is a member of CUES and served the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions (1999-2007) as a director, during which time he served as vice president (2007) and treasurer (2003-2006). Harrington is a Certified Credit Union Executive, earning his designation in 2000. He and his wife Janis have two children, Trey and Ryan.

Bradley Hickey

Brad HickeyBradley Hickey is the manager of Application Development for American Airlines Federal Credit Union in Fort Worth, Texas. Hickey has 12 years of experience in credit unions and financial services building systems, applications, and methodologies. His mission is to bridge the gap between credit union culture and creative, technical thought to develop financial solutions through employee engagement and team building. Hickey earned his Credit Union Development Educator designation in 2016 and is certified in The Open Group Architecture Framework, which prescribes frameworks for enterprise architectures. He is also participating in Filene’s i3 program. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems from The University of Texas at San Antonio.

Lily Newfarmer
Region 3, Asset Category 2

Lily NewfarmerLily is the CEO of Tarrant County's Credit Union and has over 25 years in the credit union industry. She graduated from SCMS in 1999 and obtained her CUDE designation in 2008. Lily has served on the SCMS Faculty Team for over 15 years and as a Board Trustee with the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation since 2001 - as past Chairman and currently as the CUDE Advisory Trustee. She serves on Filene's Research Council, CMG's Select CU Council, CUR's Impact Group, and CCUL's Financial Review Committee.

Michael Roark

Mike RoarkMike Roark is Senior Vice President of Lending/Collections for Neighborhood Credit Union in Dallas and has worked in the Credit Union Industry since 1992. He was elected to the Dallas Chapter of Credit Union's Board of Directors in 2010, and currently serves as Ex-Officio. Additionally, he is the current Executive Committee Chairman for the League's Lending Council. Mike holds a Bachelor's Degree from Oklahoma University, a Master's Degree in Finance from Oklahoma City University, and is a Veteran of the United States Navy. Mike and his wife, Lisa, enjoy gardening, hiking, sailing, and serving at the Dallas Life Community Shelter.

Linda Stanton
Region 5, Asset Category 1

Linda StantonLinda Stanton is President and CEO of Union Pacific of Arkansas FCU in North Little Rock, Arkansas, a positon she has held since 2005; she originally joined the credit union staff in 1989 as a teller. Linda initially became involved with credit unions in 1979, when she stuffed statements for Kirtland FCU in Albuquerque, NM.  She graduated from Park University with a BS in Management, and is a 2006 graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School, where she was Class Secretary. She has served on the Central Arkansas Chapter Board, where she held two terms as President, two terms as Vice President and two terms as Secretary.  She currently sits on the Board of the CSX/UP Association (Nat’l Association of Railroad CUs) and on the Board of ARCUSO (AR indirect lending CUSO), where she represents the Class C investors  Linda has been married to her husband Rick for 41 years, and they have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys crafting, shopping, reading, cooking and traveling, (especially cruising!)

Paul A. Trylko

Paul TrylkoPaul Trylko is president and CEO of Amplify Federal Credit Union, Austin, Texas, having been involved with credit unions since 1979. He was elected to the League board in 2008. Trylko has been involved with the Ultradata Users Group Executive Board as board president and member, the Alliance of Austin Credit Unions as founder and president, Texas Credit Union League MSB Conversion Task Force, the Credit Union Business Solutions Board as chairman, Credit Union Executives Society, and is a member of the CUNA Examination & Supervision Subcommittee. Trylko has also traveled to Poland to represent the League's credit unions at the World Council of Credit Unions and has traveled to Brazil to represent the League as part of a credit union exchange program. He is also a member of the Pflugerville Community Church as elder. He was named CEO of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions for 2013. In 2012, he was named one of Austin’s Best CEOs by the Austin Business Journal and he led Amplify to an award for Best Customer Service from the Austin Chamber of Commerce. He and his wife Debbie have two children, Tammy and Beth, with whom they enjoy sports and travel.

JoBetsy Tyler

JoBetsy TylerJoBetsy Tyler is president of First Central Credit Union, Waco, Texas, and has been involved with credit unions since 1984. She is a member of the Central Texas Chapter of Credit Unions, having served as secretary, auditor, and on the golf tournament committee. Tyler was elected to the League board in 2012. Having served on League committees, presently she chairs the Leadesrhip Development Committee. In the community, Tyler is involved as a board member of the Baylor-Waco Foundation, a Junior League of Waco Sustainer, Boy Scout Troop 497, Columbus Avenue Baptist Church, and as a volunteer with Midway ISD PTA. She and her husband Mike have three children, Paige, Zack, and Blake.

Cindy White

Cindy WhiteCindy White is the President/CEO of Oklahoma Educators Credit Union in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a position she has held since 2012. She began her career with credit unions in 2010 as Vice President of Finance following 12 years in banking and 5 years as a corporate accountant. Cindy has a Bachelor's degree from Eastern Washington University in Accounting. She received her CUCE designation from CUNA in 2012 and serves on Cornerstone's Leadership Development Committee as Vice Chairman. Cindy has been married to her husband James for 29 years and they have 3 children. She enjoys traveling, cooking, and shopping.
