Beginning Sept. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month commemorates the history and culture of the Latinx and Hispanic communities in the United States. Sept. 15 was chosen as the kickoff date because it is when Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua celebrate their independence from Spain.
