Transtar Federal Credit Union VP of Finance Latisha Schools has spent her career in the credit union movement, perfecting her personal application of the “people helping people” philosophy. The mother of two greatly values family, citing her grandmother as her role model.

• How long have you been in the credit union industry?
  I have been in the industry almost 22 years.
• What is your favorite thing about working in the credit union?
  I love the collaboration within the industry. The camaraderie between the people you meet from members, vendors, and others within the industry. I have met amazing people! I love to help others and in my years in the credit union movement, I have been given the opportunity to do that.
• What is one thing that surprises most people about you?
  People are shocked to learn that I have only ever worked in credit unions. It was my first job and I never left. People are also surprised that I have two daughters, ages 17 and 14.
• Who is your role model and why?
  My grandmother. She has a strength that has made me into who I am today. Her best advice to me was: “Do what you can now, and when you can do better – do that.” She has always believed in me and reminded me life is hard, mistakes happen, but never give up.

  Peaky Blinders
