Monica Galindo announced as Cornerstone 2022 Young Professional of the Year

This year’s Young Professional of the Year is Monica Galindo, GECU director of advocacy and external affairs. Galindo is a dynamic credit union leader whose 20-year career includes time as a Cornerstone Foundation Ambassador, a member of the CUNA MAP Advisory Board, and a TCCUL Political Action Committee trustee. She exhibits a deep passion for advocacy and is a natural leader.

Each year, Cornerstone League recognizes the accomplishments of a professional between 18 and 40 who has demonstrated strong leadership and a passion for making a difference in the credit union movement and who is highly engaged in the industry. The announcement of Galindo’s award was made during this year’s Young Professionals Conference in Frisco on May 10.

Galindo joined GECU in 2002 as a title clerk. Four years later, she moved into her current position as director of advocacy and external affairs, where she oversees GECU’s political involvement. Her role and passion for advocacy have allowed her to discuss the credit union difference with lawmakers at the local, state, and national levels.

In addition to her numerous board and organizational roles, Galindo has worked diligently to develop an internal young professionals program at GECU that promotes professional development, offers community connection, explores advocacy, and supports the empowerment of young professionals.
