Get Ready to Vote: Election Day Is Nov. 3
With the Nov. 3 general election approaching, now is the time to make sure you are registered and ready to vote.
Credit unions have a long tradition of grassroots engagement, and elections provide another opportunity for credit union employees, volunteers, and members to participate in the democratic process and make their voices heard. The 2026 election will determine the makeup of the 120th Congress, with all 435 U.S. House seats and regularly scheduled U.S. Senate races on the ballot.
At the state level, voters in 46 states will elect state legislators this November. These elections will shape the legislative bodies that consider policies affecting financial services, consumer protection, security, financial fraud, and other issues relevant to credit unions and the communities they serve.
The election also comes as credit unions continue advocating for a range of federal policy priorities. The lawmakers elected this November will serve in the 120th Congress, where issues affecting credit unions, their members, and the financial services industry will be considered over the next two years.
As Election Day approaches, voters should also be aware of registration deadlines. Requirements vary by state, with some states requiring voters to register several weeks before Election Day and others allowing registration through Election Day.
America’s Credit Unions’ Credit Unions Vote resource provides a convenient way for credit union employees and members to prepare. Through the site, voters can verify their registration status, find information about early and absentee voting, and locate their polling place.
Don’t wait until Election Day to get prepared. Check your voter registration status, review the requirements in your state, and make a plan to cast your ballot Nov. 3.
