AMOCO Federal Credit Union Announces Retirement of Darby McDermott

AMOCO Federal Credit Union announced the retirement of Executive Vice President Patrick “Darby” McDermott in March 2026, concluding a distinguished 41-year career in financial services.

McDermott joined AMOCO in 2018 as executive vice president of operations sales and services, where he strengthened the credit union’s sales culture, expanded its credit card portfolio, modernized delivery channels, and enhanced investment and retirement services.

“Working alongside Darby has been one of the great privileges of my career,” said President/CEO Shawn Bailey. “He leaves our organization stronger than he found it.”

Reflecting on his career, McDermott shared, “It has been an honor to serve our members and work alongside such dedicated professionals I consider friends.”

 

GECU Announces Executive Promotions

GECU announced several executive promotions reflecting the organization’s commitment to advocacy, community service, and philanthropy.

Monica Galindo was promoted to vice president – advocacy & external affairs. With nearly 24 years of service and a CUDE designation, Galindo leads advocacy initiatives and oversees the GECU Young Professionals Program, now the largest in the nation. She serves as president of the El Paso Chapter of Credit Unions and holds multiple civic leadership roles.

 

 

Gina Lewis was promoted to vice president – military & veteran affairs. Lewis advances financial well-being for service members and veterans and plays a key role in GECU’s partnership with Endeavors. She has held leadership roles with the Association of the United States Army and serves on multiple advocacy and veterans committees.

 

 

 

Emmeline Garcia was named executive director of the GECU Foundation and joined the executive team. Under her leadership, the Foundation has raised more than $450,000 annually and expanded investments in professional development, nursing, dental, and sensory-friendly education programs across Texas and New Mexico.
