RBFCU and True Sky Federal Credit Union Boards Approve Merger Agreement
The boards of directors of Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union and True Sky Federal Credit Union have unanimously approved and entered into a definitive merger agreement, bringing together two long-standing credit unions with a shared heritage in aviation.
Pending regulatory approval and a vote of True Sky’s membership—both expected in the first quarter of 2026—the combined organization will operate under the RBFCU name. The merger is intended to strengthen financial soundness, expand access, and reinforce the cooperative principles that define the credit union model for members across Texas and Oklahoma.
True Sky Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Oklahoma City, was established in 1946 by the forerunner of the Federal Aviation Administration. The credit union serves more than 64,000 members through 14 branches in the greater Oklahoma City area and reports assets exceeding $799 million.
RBFCU was founded in 1952 at Randolph Air Force Base and is based in the Live Oak community near San Antonio. Today, RBFCU serves more than 1.1 million members through 64 branches across Texas, with assets exceeding $19 billion.
RBFCU President and CEO Mark Sekula said the merger reflects a shared commitment to members and communities.
“We are combining our shared heritage in aviation and spirit of people helping people to provide more value and support to our members,” Sekula said. “Our deep roots in the Southwest and foundations in civilian and military aviation give us the opportunity to provide even more financial soundness and resources to our members and communities, grounded in a shared history and culture. We are thrilled to take flight together.”
Cornerstone League congratulates both RBFCU and True Sky Federal Credit Union on this milestone. The merger reflects the strength of collaboration within the credit union system and underscores how shared values, thoughtful leadership, and member-focused strategy can position credit unions to expand impact while honoring their legacy of service.
