CCCA Amendment Not Included in Today’s Markup
This week, the credit union industry celebrates a “win” as Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) agreed to not offer a reworked version of the Credit Card Competition Act as an amendment to cryptocurrency legislation during today’s Senate Agriculture Committee markup.
After Marshall filed his amendment on Friday, leagues across the country and America’s Credit Unions activated quickly to connect with committee members in strong opposition.
Caroline Willard, president/CEO of Cornerstone League, offers words of praise and caution to Cornerstone member credit unions.
“It’s important that we stop to celebrate this industry win. Our efforts are making a difference – lawmakers are listening – and we must keep our foot on the gas because the CCCA still is an active bill,” said Willard.
Efforts to oppose the Credit Card Competition Act are ongoing. America’s Credit Unions members are encouraged to voice their opposition through America’s Credit Unions’ CCCA action alert in the Grassroots Action Center. Additional research and resources are available in the America’s Credit Unions Resource Library.
