Central Texas Credit Unions Raise Nearly $25,000 for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

The Central Texas Chapter of Credit Unions raised $24,987.75 for BSW McLane Children’s Hospital through its annual charity golf tournament, supporting critical pediatric care for families across the region.

Held Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at Bear Ridge Golf Club in Waco, the tournament brought together 20 teams for a day of friendly competition and purpose-driven giving. Chapter leaders formally presented the donation to BSW McLane Children’s on Dec. 9.

“Credit unions have always believed in people helping people, and this tournament is that philosophy in action,” said JoBetsy Tyler, president of the Central Texas Chapter of Credit Unions and CEO of First Central Credit Union. “Every dollar raised will help McLane Children’s provide exceptional care to kids and families right here in Central Texas.”

To boost both engagement and fundraising, the tournament featured creative challenge holes, including a Drone Drop Challenge—where teams could attempt a precision ball drop from 20 feet—and a Beat t

he Pro challenge against an LPGA professional.

“These special holes added fun and strategy to the day, but more importantly, they helped us raise more money for the hospital,” said Galen Burke, vice president of commercial services at Texell Credit Union and tournament coordinator.

The event was supported by a wide range of sponsors and participating credit unions, reinforcing the collective impact credit unions can make when they come together in service of their communities.
