Cornerstone Foundation Welcomes Three New Trustees
The Cornerstone Foundation is excited to announce the appointment of three new trustees to its board. These new trustees bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to advancing the Foundation's mission.

Michael Massey, CPA, MBA, CCE, president, TDECU Holdings
Massey leads TDECU’s strategic investments, mergers and acquisitions, and innovation initiatives as president of its Holdings subsidiary and serves on the credit union’s Executive Leadership Council. His prior leadership includes senior roles at Georgia’s Own Credit Union (digital, product, and marketing) and Delta Community Credit Union (lending and analytics). A former commercial banker and auditor, Massey maintains active CPA licenses in North Carolina and Texas, serves as board treasurer of the TDECU Cares Foundation, and previously chaired the North Carolina State Board of CPA Examiners. He holds an MBA from UNC Kenan-Flagler and is a Certified Chief Executive through CUES.

Sonya McDonald, executive vice president, chief operating officer, RBFCU
With three decades in financial services—more than 20 years at RBFCU—McDonald is the credit union’s first female and first Hispanic executive vice president. As EVP and COO, she directs member experience across 63 branches in four markets and has championed organizational inclusion as founder and executive sponsor of the RBFCU Diversity Advisory Council. She also serves as president of the RBFCU Foundation. McDonald is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

Grant Weiland, chief operations officer, Border Federal Credit Union
A 14-year credit union professional, Weiland has served in roles spanning compliance, sales, and executive leadership. He earned his CUDE designation in 2013, led Teachers Credit Union as president/CEO from 2016 to 2023, and now oversees branch operations, call centers, lending, and member services as COO at Border Federal Credit Union. A Southwest Credit Union Management School graduate and former class president, Weiland is known for driving operational excellence and expanding access for members.
The Foundation board comprises 17 trustees and five advisory trustees, each playing a critical role in guiding the organization's efforts to promote financial wellness, provide grants and professional development opportunities, offer programmatic support, and assist credit union staff and volunteers when disaster strikes.
Join us in welcoming Massey, McDonald, and Weiland to the Cornerstone Foundation Board of Trustees. Their leadership and expertise will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of the Foundation’s initiatives.
