Thu June 26, 2025

Longtime president and CEO of Southwest Airlines Federal Credit Union Diane Furnas passed away this month, leaving behind a legacy of credit union leadership and vision.

Furnas made her mark in the credit union industry as founder and leader of Southwest Airlines Federal Credit Union, where for 37 years, she helped shape the organization into what it is today. According to her obituary, “she was known for her strength, grace, and the unwavering love she showed those around her. To know her was to experience both wisdom and warmth.”

“I extend my deepest condolences to all who knew and loved her,” said Caroline Willard, president/CEO of Cornerstone League. “Diane was a credit union trailblazer and visionary leader. She will be sorely missed.”
