GECU Foundation’s Matching May Campaign Raises Over $230K for Local Nonprofits

The GECU Foundation proudly celebrated the successful conclusion of its 2025 Matching May campaign during a special event at Southwest University Park on June 7, held in conjunction with the El Paso Chihuahuas game.

The month-long initiative brought the El Paso and Southern New Mexico communities together to support 12 nonprofit organizations making a meaningful difference across the region. Thanks to community generosity—and the Foundation’s commitment to match donations up to $12,000 per organization—the campaign raised a total of $230,156.

“We are truly inspired by the generosity and unity shown by our community during this year’s Matching May campaign,” said Emmeline Garcia, Executive Director of the GECU Foundation. “Every contribution, no matter the size, helps provide critical resources to organizations that are making a real impact in the lives of individuals and families in our region.”

Matching May beneficiaries included:

  • Amistad
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Paso
  • Candlelighters of West Texas and Southern New Mexico
  • Casa de Peregrinos
  • Community En Acción
  • Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico
  • Kelly Center for Hunger Relief
  • Make-A-Wish Foundation
