The Cornerstone Foundation is proud to announce the Angela McCathran Principles & Philosophy Scholarship, honoring a trailblazing credit union leader who dedicated her life to the cooperative movement. The scholarship covers registration for the Principles
& Philosophy Workshop, a program McCathran co-created alongside Lily Newfarmer, to make the credit union philosophy more accessible and affordable for professionals across the region.
McCathran was the former CEO of People’s Trust
FCU and a passionate advocate for credit union values. She served as chair of the Cornerstone Foundation Board and volunteered with the National Credit Union Foundation. McCathran earned her Credit Union Development Educator Designation (CUDE) as
well as her International CUDE designation for her work in Africa, and was a champion of education and leadership development throughout her career.
The Principles & Philosophy Workshop brings the credit union difference to life, offering a unique blend of history, values-based leadership, and hands-on activities that challenge participants to think differently about their role in the movement. Since its inception, 269 individuals have successfully participated in the workshop.
