The 2025 CU FinHealth Conference in Anaheim, Calif., brought together more than 200 credit union professionals from across the country for three days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration to improve members’ financial well-being. Co-hosted by the National Credit Union Foundation, the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues, and the Cornerstone Foundation, the conference spotlighted practical, people-centered approaches to financial health and how credit unions can lead the way.
Among the key messages: financial well-being isn’t about products but people. Sessions underscored the importance of culture, empathy, and trust, reminding attendees that impactful financial guidance starts with internal alignment and genuine member relationships. Participants were encouraged to think beyond traditional solutions and explore how team dynamics, cross-departmental communication, and staff empowerment directly influence member outcomes.
One of the biggest highlights was a series of breakout sessions focused on launching or expanding financial coaching programs within credit unions. Attendees explored strategies for mapping a member’s financial journey, identifying barriers to success, and building confidence among staff to engage in meaningful, goal-focused conversations with members. These practical and energizing sessions offered a clear roadmap for translating the credit union mission into real-world results.
Gamification emerged as a standout topic. Speakers highlighted the growing role of interactive, game-based tools in financial education, especially with younger members. From savings challenges to engaging mobile features, gamification is proving to be an effective way to make financial literacy more accessible and enjoyable.
Through peer learning and shared experiences, the CU FinHealth Conference reaffirmed that credit unions are uniquely positioned to lead the financial wellness movement. Credit unions can drive lasting impact by putting people at the center of their strategy and equipping employees to coach and guide members through their financial lives.
The Cornerstone Foundation was proud to co-host this year’s event and remains committed to helping credit unions champion financial wellness in every community they serve.
