Credit Union Leaders Meet for Managers Roundtable in Hot Springs

Last week, credit union professionals gathered in Hot Springs, Ark., for the Managers Roundtable. This annual three-day event was jampacked with excellent speakers, networking opportunities, roundtable-style discussions, and the sharing of best practices.
Day 1 – Kick-off
Rett Hatcher, Ann Clemmer, and Caleb Osborne of Capitol Consulting Firm provided a state legislative update. Cornerstone League EVP/Chief Advocacy Officer Jim Phelps gave an update on federal advocacy and shared information about Cornerstone League’s engagement opportunities and Friends of the Foundation.

Day 2 – Speakers and Roundtable Discussions
- Josh Wood, compliance director for the Arkansas Auditor of State Unclaimed Property Division, presented important information on the “Who? What? When? Where? Why? and How?” of the reporting of unclaimed property by financial institutions to the state of Arkansas.
- Local agents from the FBI gave a presentation on white-collar crime and answered many questions from the audience.
- Jim Bullard, a senior consultant in the Risk and Compliance Solutions department for TruStage, spoke on the emerging risk outlook for credit unions, which included trends in litigation, compliance, and fraud.
- MilWay President/CEO Allen Brown discussed succession planning for credit unions during his session “Lessons Learned.”
- The day wrapped up with a Managers Roundtable favorite: Hot Topics. Credit unions submitted topics and questions in advance, and attendees had the opportunity to provide answers and insights.
Day 3 – That’s a Wrap
Holly Hoffman, author and last woman standing on Season 21 of CBS’s hit reality show “Survivor,” was the closing keynote speaker. She presented an inspiring story of determination, faith, and perseverance and taught us how to apply those qualities in our leadership roles. She also had everyone on their feet for some fun exercises to bring it all together.
