Help us stop captive auto financing in Texas

Captive auto finance has been a pervasive issue in Texas as some auto lenders won’t allow outside financing when consumers try to purchase a vehicle.
In 2023, Texas Sen. Royce West (D-District 23) filed a bill to ban the practice, which received bipartisan support. The bill sailed through the Texas Senate and was making progress in the House when time ran out in the 2023 legislative session.
West is considering resurrecting this issue ahead of the 2025 legislative session, but he needs your help. If your members have experienced an issue with forced auto financing, please share those stories with West’s office via the fillable form we have created for your convenience.
Once you’ve completed the form:
- Please email it to vince.leibowitz@senate.texas.gov (email only, please) and
- Copy Texas Grassroots and PAC Director April Mobley.
Your stories will strengthen West’s case to help stop captive auto finance in Texas as he meets with his staff this summer. Please contact April Mobley with questions.
