A conversation with Rep. French Hill
Among the many conversations at GAC, at least two were featured in the media. A CUToday article features the conversation between Cornerstone President/CEO Caroline Willard and U.S. Rep. French Hill (R-Ark.), who discussed artificial intelligence, the CFPB, and Hill’s opposition to the Credit Card Competition Act.

When asked about interchange, Hill said, "I don’t support the interchange legislation that’s been pending in the Senate and the House. But let’s talk about process for a minute. This bill has been introduced in both chambers, but in the House we’ve had no hearings, we’ve not had that legislation come to the committee, being marked up, and subject to amendment… That is just not right… It’s certainly not the process of your legislative branch of federal government."

As a reminder, the Senate Judiciary Committee, chaired by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), will hold a hearing on April 9 regarding the Credit Card Competition Act. Please note that the committee has no jurisdiction over the CCCA.

Talking Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands with CUbroadcast
Willard also sat down with Mike Lawson of CUbroadcast to discuss Cornerstone’s new event with CU4Kids and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals: Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands. League of Southeastern Credit Unions President Samantha Beeler also joined the conversation to discuss LSCU’s Night of Miracles event, and Nick Coleman was there to offer a CU4Kids perspective.

Willard shared with Lawson, “Now that we’re a five-state league, it seemed like the right time (for an event like Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands) not just for the fundraising, but to create something that generates more cohesion. Something that we can be proud of.”

Take a look at the interview. You can also get more information about Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands on Oct. 11 or watch our video.
