Does your credit union offer a path to political engagement?

The Cornerstone region’s five state legislatures may be winding down—and Arkansas has already declared sine die—but the important work of credit union advocates continues throughout the year. State elected officials will still take breaks and be available for constituents, and congressional lawmakers will make treks to their home bases during the August recess. These are excellent opportunities for your credit union to engage in significant ways.

In our latest Perspectives magazine, “The Path to Political Engagement” offers great advice for advocates to navigate advocacy over the next few months:

“For credit unions to survive and thrive in an environment of increasing regulatory and legislative pressures, they must adopt a few specialized practices—they must advocate, they must participate through engagement, they must get political. But political doesn’t mean partisan. Regardless of political affiliations, credit union people can come together to speak about the issues impacting our movement. That’s political engagement.”
