The Coastal Bend Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a Candidate Meet & Greet on Sept. 22 at a local restaurant.
Chapter President Mark Avelar, who is also EVP of Texas Bridge Credit Union, invited all candidates on the county ballot, from the city council to the state legislature and congressional races.
Sixteen candidates attended covering all seats in play except the congressional race for the 27th Congressional District.
About 30 credit union staff, executive managers, and board members participated from Navy Army Credit Union, RBFCU, Texas Bridge Credit Union, Coastlife Credit Union, and Members 1st Credit Union.
“The one surprising attendee was Sen. Chuy Hinojosa who stayed at our event for more than an hour,” said Avelar. “He was all ears at this event and asked me to personally contact him when the session starts next year so we can meet to discuss our legislative priorities.”
