Texas A&M veterinary student Mayane Faccin was awarded $5,000 in the fifth annual Aggieland Credit Union Tuition Takedown Giveaway.
Faccin, an international student and a third-year doctoral student in the Veterinary Pathobiology Department in the Biomedical Sciences Program, is a second-year resident in veterinary anatomic pathology.
This year’s Aggieland Tuition Takedown Giveaway was open to any member of the Bryan-College Station credit union or its parent Greater Texas Credit Union, who has an active checking account, and is also a full-time student at Texas A&M. Students also receive an entry each time they use their Aggieland debit card.
“I honestly didn't believe I won when I was first told,” said Faccin. “The money will allow me to buy a new computer to write my dissertation and buy some books and class materials for the fall semester.”
Faccin added that, as an international student, her membership in Aggieland Credit Union has helped her learn about the American banking system. “The credit union has always given me the help I need to manage my finances,” she said.
Faccin plans to graduate from Texas A&M in the fall of 2023.
“Our partnership with Texas A&M is thriving,” said Tina Muth, assistant vice president at Aggieland Credit Union. “Since its creation, we’ve awarded $25,000 to students through the Tuition Takedown Giveaway.”
