The Oklahoma Credit Union Association held a retirement party on June 30 at the Credit Union House of Oklahoma in honor of Executive Director Nate Webb, who announced his plan to retire last month. Nearly 70 credit union leaders, elected officials, local office holders, Cornerstone leaders, and friends and family visited throughout the evening.

Some highlights of the event included Webb’s friends standing up to offer their well wishes—and a few smart remarks:

Dave Willis, CEO of Tinker FCU, highlighted Webb’s years of service in the U.S. Navy, as well as his political career and his contributions to the credit union movement in Oklahoma. Willis also presented Webb with a flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol.

Other industry leaders said kind words about all the work Webb has done for the credit union industry, including Larry Shropshire, CEO of Communication FCU; Dan Newberry, VP of Lending for TTCU FCU; Dennis Halpin, CEO of Truity CU; and Jeff Carpenter, CEO of WEOKIE FCU.

Derek Sparks, a senior manager in government relations at the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber, worked with Webb on a political campaign for Rep. Mary Fallin. Sparks named Webb as a mentor and pointed to others who regarded him similarly.

Billie Rodely, a district communications coordinator at the U.S. House of Representatives and a fellow former broadcast news reporter, presented a comedic tribute.

U.S. Rep. Stephanie Bice offered some meaningful remarks about Webb’s service over the years as a lobbyist.

U.S. Senator James Lankford provided a recorded tribute to Webb for their work together and their friendship.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt stopped by to offer his congratulations at the end of the evening.
