Alcoa Community Federal Credit Union President/CEO Steve Brown has been appointed to represent Arkansas credit unions on the State Treasurer’s Financial Education Commission. The commission was established during the legislative session earlier this year as a result of Senate Bill 599.

The Arkansas Financial Education Commission will create and provide financial education programs for all Arkansans. The commission has appointed members that will serve a two-year term. Appointed members represent a broad cross-section of financial expertise.

“I am honored to be selected to represent all Arkansas credit unions on this commission,” said Brown. “The creation of this commission is important to the long-term financial knowledge and capabilities of today’s youth. It is imperative to me that we present a balanced approach to financial knowledge and to ensure that our credit union core principles related to financial literacy are represented.”

“We are very excited about Steve being named to the commission,” said Arkansas Credit Union Association Executive Director Vicky Salkeld Dahinden. “Because of Steve’s extensive experience, we know he will represent credit unions well and be a tremendous asset.”
