The A+ Education Foundation, a philanthropic arm of A+ Federal Credit Union in Austin, continues its commitment to education by awarding over $84,350 in grants to 64 Central Texas educators. With this year's grants, the A+ Education Foundation has awarded over $1.1 million in grants since the program began in 2005.

"It is very exciting to be able to award these educators with grants to assist them with opening the new school year," said A+ Education Foundation President Georgia L. Johnson. "They need our support more than ever as they find their new normal. The credit union was founded by a small group of teachers and honoring them with these grants for over a decade has been an exciting journey."

Established in 2005, the A+ Education Foundation has awarded 1,142 educators with over $1,117,850 in grants to fund innovative, inspiring, and engaging programs for their schools.

This year's winning grants will go toward:

  • Materials to create innovative engineering designs and models
  • A beekeeping program that teaches kids about ecosystems and food production
  • Accessible technology for students with speech impairments and disabilities
  • Equipment to create video games, film, and animation
  • Creating a literacy library and publishing students' poetry in an anthology
  • Funding construction and maintenance of a fully functioning food web system
  • Establishing a classroom economy and taking culturally rich virtual vacations
