The Cornerstone Foundation’s Karen Hart Legacy Society is designed to preserve and strengthen what past generations have built to ensure tomorrow’s credit union movement is secure for those who follow.
It’s easy and effortless to provide a monetary gift for the Karen Hart Legacy Society. No matter how small, your generous gift will sustain the good work of the Cornerstone Foundation and ensure that funds are available to help credit unions in need—even those in the future that exceed our lifetimes.
The Foundation offers a variety of giving opportunities to sustain our cooperative community, such as:
Depending on how you choose to give, a sustainable gift is a big and intentional decision. We invite you to contact Staci Zale, development director, to discuss the available options and what might work best for you: 214-455-5482.
Karen Hart’s career at Cornerstone League (formerly Texas Credit Union League) started at 17. Forty-one years later, in 2021, she retired, having advanced from a check typist to chief financial officer, chief administrative officer, and executive vice president. This lifelong commitment to an organization is uncommon; however, for Hart Cornerstone and credit unions were a higher calling.
“I love this company, and it’s just that simple,” Hart said. “To quote one of my favorite movies, Aliens, ‘Every day is a holiday, every meal is a banquet, every paycheck is a fortune, and every formation is a parade.’ I have always taken great pride in everything we do for credit unions. I believe in our principles, our philosophy, and the fact that we go above and beyond to serve a movement that gives back. There is no better job.”
To honor Karen Hart’s 41-year career in dedicated service to credit unions, the Cornerstone Foundation launched the Karen Hart Legacy Society. Credit unions can become part of the Society and make a donation to create an impact that extends beyond the span of one’s career or lifetime.
