The National Credit Union Administration recently approved the addition of 477 underserved census tracts in Texas to AMOCO Federal Credit Union’s field of membership. The expansion increases AMOCO’s potential field of membership by 2.49 million.

Previously AMOCO’s field of membership was predominately driven by special employee groups. The addition of the underserved area now allows the credit union to open membership to people who live, work, worship, or attend school in, and businesses located in an area bounded by Liberty, Texas, to the north, the Justin Hurst Wildlife Management Area to the south, High Island Beach to the east and the Mission Bend neighborhood of Houston to the west.

“This addition gives AMOCO the opportunity to enhance the financial lives of individuals who have not had convenient access to financial institutions,” said Tina Foster, executive vice president of administration at AMOCO FCU. “By offering education and affordable products and services, we know we can make a positive and lasting impact.”
