To help members who don’t have credit or those who need to reestablish it, TruService Community Federal Credit Union, based in Little Rock, Ark., is kicking off TruStart, a 90-day financial fitness program.
Components include a checking account with no minimum balance requirement, a credit-building loan, a secured credit card, as well as free financial counseling via TruService Community FCU’s video banking app; weekly live Facebook TruTalkshows, featuring the credit union’s four certified financial counselors; and saving tips posted regularly on Facebook.
The TruStart checking account includes a credit simulator that members can use to see how different actions, such as increasing card limits or paying off a loan, will impact their credit score. In addition, enrolled members can access their financial wellness platform with unlimited one-on-one coaching, interactive courses, videos, booklets, infographics, and more to help them maximize their financial wellness.
Need a loan and worried about a bad credit report or the lack of credit? TruService Community FCU can help. Its Credit Builder Loan doesn’t require any funds to establish the loan, and members don’t have to worry about a credit score. While the member must maintain the loan for at least six months, the funds will be advanced by the loan and secured until it is paid in full. The result? A nest egg at the completion of the loan term and an established credit history.
The Visa Secured Credit Card is a secured card program for members with impaired credit or those needing to build credit. It carries an interest rate of 17% and does not require any minimums for credit or income. Available credit will equal the amount of funds used as collateral up to $3,000. As a bonus, members approved for the card will receive the Extra Awards® points program. Every qualifying purchase gets them a step closer to awards like cash, gift certificates, rebates, and travel options.
“Our TruStart Program is a suite of financial tools to make it easier to manage and control your finances,” said Brant Collins, marketing director for TruService Community FCU. “Our full-featured financial tools and account benefits will help you get on the right path to your financial freedom.”
