In true “people helping people” style, the Sabine Chapter of credit unions sprang into action to help their neighbors in Southwest Louisiana after several hurricanes swept through and caused significant damage. In the aftermath of Hurricane Laura, the chapter donated approximately $20,000.

“Our chapter is great about collaboration, but this was a little extra special to our hearts,” said Common Cents Credit Union VP of Information Systems Holly Hebert. “We have endured numerous hurricanes and the significant damage they cause, so our credit unions were ready to lend a helping hand to our neighbors in Southwest Louisiana.”

Hebert said the donations help to provide meals for the survivors. The chapter’s board of directors took the opportunity to volunteer at the meal distribution center in Lake Charles.
