Earlier in the year, 23 teams from 18 credit unions and business partners came together to participate in the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions’ annual bowling tournament, raising more than $8,000 for Houston-area children’s charities.
The tournament winners were:
Anita Tomczak, Houston Texas Fire Fighters FCU marketing manager and bowling tournament organizer, thanks all those who donated. “I would like to send a huge thank you to all the organizations who contributed to supporting the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions in their fundraising efforts, helping Houston children’s charities.”
Now, the Houston Chapter is leveling up its game. The board of directors approved an increased cap in donations for the Texas Children’s Hospital for 2020, with an additional $10,000 in direct donations. Additionally, CO-OP Financial Services has announced that it will match up to $10,000 in donations to the hospital, for a total of $30,000.
Houston Texas Fire Fighters FCU President and CEO Steve Gillman said, “Given the challenges of 2020, I believe the Children’s Miracle Network, the hospital, and all participants in the Houston-area credit union community will appreciate the Chapter’s and CO-OP’s continued commitment to raise funds for children in need.”
The annual bowling tournament is just one of the many ways the Houston Chapter supports the community. Additionally, the Chapter leads efforts such as softball and volleyball tournaments and Toys for Tots and food drives, all benefitting local children’s charities.
