During the 47th Southwest CUNA Management School graduation, the 36 students of the Class of 2019 donated $43,000 to the SCMS Scholarship Fund, paying it forward for those who follow in their footsteps. Fully 100% of the money raised by students goes to the Fund.
In addition to the Class of 2019 funds, the Class of 2009 donated $2,009 during the SCMS Class of 2020 Auction for their class scholarship fund in honor of their 10-year anniversary.
"We are so grateful to have received these generous donations of $43,000 and $2,009 from the Southwest CUNA Management School, Class of 2019 and Class of 2009, respectively," said Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran. "I can think of no better demonstration of our People Helping People philosophy than to pay it forward. This donation allows the Foundation to provide opportunities for future credit union leaders."
The SCMS Scholarship Fund, administered by the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, helps students with tuition expenses, so they're able to attend the SCMS program. This year, the Foundation, in coordination with the SCMS Scholarship Committee, awarded 57 scholarships in the amount of $77,064, which included not only graduates but first- and second-year students as well.
Plan now to be part of the SCMS Class of 2022, registration for which opens soon. Prospective students may visit SCMS.coop for an information request form or to request advance notice of the opening of enrollment and scholarships for next summer’s school.
