Get your credit union staff up to speed at the June 12–13 Bankruptcy and Collection Seminar in Plano. This two-day event is designed to empower your bankruptcy department while avoiding pitfalls and ensuring you adhere to debt collection laws.
Save money when you register by May 1.
Attorneys Tom Sharp and Sharon Sjostrom will explain the basics of bankruptcy, provide a detailed analysis of creditors' rights, offer real-world strategies for achieving the best possible results, and enable credit unions to avoid collection activities that violate the bankruptcy code. Learn from the historical successes of credit unions and from the mistakes other creditors have made, as well as how credit unions can navigate bankruptcy cases and avoid some common pitfalls.
Credit union collectors must have a clear and thorough understanding of the restrictions and requirements of the debt collection laws. Attorneys Mike Blalack and Rob Woodcock will focus on the Texas Debt Collection Practices Act, various compliance issues that arise in the collections department, and critical guidelines and recommendations for effective telephone collections. A portion of the day will be devoted to practical advice regarding effective telephone techniques and strategies that will make collectors more effective on the telephone with delinquent members.
