A+ Federal Credit Union is celebrating 70 years in the Central Texas community with events and giveaways throughout 2019.
A+FCU, originally Austin Teachers Federal Credit Union, was founded in May of 1949 by 50 Austin Independent School District teachers during a meeting at Zilker Park. Since then, the credit union has grown to over $1 billion in assets, 22 branch locations, and more than 150,000 members from all around the community.
The credit union will introduce the following celebrations throughout 2019:
A+FCU will also be hosting A+ Gives, a series of 70 different days with scheduled acts of kindness throughout the year to show appreciation for the communities around them. Themes range from volunteering at nonprofit organizations to donating food to helping veterans.
“We’re honored to have been a presence in Central Texas for the past 70 years,” A+FCU CEO Kerry A.S. Parker said. “We’re very excited to celebrate our 70th Anniversary with our members and the communities we serve by giving back in many different ways and sharing our story in 2019.”
Throughout the years, A+FCU has been honored with numerous awards, including CTAT Business of the Year at the Career & Technology Association of Texas Image Awards in 2016, recognized as one of Austin’s Top Workplaces by the Austin American-Statesman, and a finalist for the 16th Annual Ethics in Business & Community Awards by RecognizeGood in 2018.
