Special election in San Antonio Texas House seat will go to runoff

Republican Fred Rangel and Democrat Ray Lopez will face off in the race to replace Rep. Justin Rodriguez, who resigned his House seat in January to become a Bexar County commissioner.

Rangel, a businessman and former member of the State Republican Executive Committee, was endorsed by Gov. Abbott and Sen. John Cornyn. Lopez served on the San Antonio City Council from 2009-2017.

Gov. Abbott will set a date for the runoff.
