Posted: Feb 5, 2019 | Author:

A credit union hero is someone who best personifies credit union philosophy and ideals, shows dedication to credit union principles, and makes a difference in their community. Now Credit Union Magazine has announced the four finalists for its 2019 Credit Union Hero of the Year award, and it's time for the rest of us to vote on the winner.

The finalists are:

  • Harlene Johnson, president, Light Commerce Credit Union, Houston

  • Cherry Dale, financial education director, Virginia Credit Union, Richmond, Va.

  • Diane Sandoval-Griego, financial empowerment and outreach manager, Guadalupe Credit Union, Santa Fe, N.M.

  • Bridget Staffileno, vice president community affairs, Catholic Federal Credit Union, Saginaw, Mich.

“The credit union movement is filled with superheroes, and we are in awe of all the amazing submissions received over the past two months,” says Ann Hayes Peterson, vice president of publishing at CUNA and editor-in-chief of Credit Union Magazine. “These four individuals truly live the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and are making an enormous impact in their communities. We’re thrilled to be able to showcase them to the rest of the movement.”

The winner will be recognized during the America’s Credit Union Conference, June 17-20 at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
