CU Resources announces successful exec search for STAR CU CEO

STAR Credit Union in Corpus Christi, Texas, has selected Lester Warby to serve as its new president/CEO, effective Jan. 14, 2019. Credit Union Resources, Inc. conducted the executive search for the $50 million-dollar credit union.

With more than 20 years of management experience in the credit union industry, Warby will help STAR CU continue to provide exceptional financial products and service to their members. Warby is recognized in the industry for implementing innovative products, cost saving initiatives, and improved efficiencies while improving the member experience.

Warby comes to STAR CU from Baltimore Washington Federal Credit Union in Glen Burnie, Md., where he served as chief executive officer. He was responsible for increasing net worth, membership, and lending, as well as creating growth. Warby grew the credit union from $8.749 million to over $10 million within his first 12 months.

Prior to working at Baltimore Washington FCU, Warby was the chief executive officer at Wolf Point Federal Credit Union in Wolf Point, Mont. He oversaw operations, lending, finance, information technology, marketing, business development, and administration within all areas of the credit union.

Warby holds a Bachelor of Arts from Southern New Hampshire University. He completed the Credit Union Executive Management certification through the Western CUNA Management School and holds certifications with Aligning Credit Union Strategy, Servicing Mortgage Loans, Lending and Credit Module, and others.

Warby is active in the community and volunteers on many committees and boards, such as the CUNA Technology Council, Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, Wolf Point Area Museum, and CUBE Users Group.
