Presenter: Wende Wakeman
Wende Wakeman is a lieutenant with the Texas Rangers, making her the highest-ranking female in its history. Wakeman joined the Department of Public Safety in 1998, serving first as a Texas Highway Patrol trooper in Sulphur Springs and New Caney. She was later promoted to narcotics sergeant in 2003, and in 2008, she joined the Texas Rangers in Conroe. In addition to her service with DPS, Wakeman is a graduate of the National Forensics Academy, a certified forensic hypnotist, and a graduate of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Women’s Leadership Institute.

Leadership and training are core to James Pogue, Ph.D., with James Pogue Enterprises. From his military service and overseas deployment in Desert Storm, he learned the importance of leadership, fellowship, and training—that improvement and survival are based on not only the best possible information, but also the best training and leaders. After 10 years in higher education, Pogue expanded his work to include multigenerational leadership, helping colleges and organizations attract, engage, and develop talent at all levels.
