Bob Nealon, VP of operations for Origence Lending Services and FI Connect, presents a great case for credit unions to remain competitive by adapting to consumers’ new car-buying behaviors, including the burgeoning EV market.

“The EV sector continues to see steady growth year-over-year, with 1.2 million vehicle buyers choosing electric in 2023,” Nealon writes. “Coupled with the rise of direct-to-consumer models steered by EV retailers like Tesla, this growth has set the bar high for a modern and seamless car-buying journey at the point of sale. Credit unions must explore innovative lending strategies that cater to these changing dynamics, ensuring they stay relevant in today’s marketplace.”
