YPs: Represent Your State and Cornerstone at Crash the GAC 2016
Thursday, September 17, 2015 7:00 AM

Applications from young credit union professionals accepted through Oct. 31, 2015.

The Cornerstone Credit Union League, in partnership with The Cooperative Trust and the Credit Union National Association, is pleased to announce the launch of scholarship applications for Crash the GAC 2016. Cornerstone is helping to recruit young professional "crashers" for the 7th year of this program.

Crash the GAC will bring young credit union professionals together in a tailored program that runs alongside the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference and allows for mentor sessions with key individuals. Crashers are able to take part in keynote and breakout sessions, visit congressional leaders in Hike the Hill advocacy events, and network with the more than 4,000 credit union leaders in attendance.

One credit union professional under the age of 35 from each state and the District of Columbia, plus one wild card, will be chosen to attend. Every crasher will receive a full free conference registration from CUNA. New this year, applicants will be required to submit a 60-second video instead of an essay. Those interested in the program must submit their applications by Oct. 31, 2015.

Cornerstone is offering travel financial assistance for the selected League-affiliated crashers, and one crasher each will be chosen from Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. All other costs are the responsibility of the attendees and their credit unions.

"I'm pleased that three young professionals from Cornerstone will have an opportunity to engage in advocacy right alongside our credit union leaders in Washington, DC," says Cornerstone Senior Vice President Mike Delker. "Not only does the Crash experience allow them to build expertise and beneficial relationships, it also builds a deep appreciation for the cooperative principles of the credit union movement. Cornerstone is delighted to help these future CEOs participate in Crash the GAC 2016."

“The Cooperative Trust Crash events give young adults the opportunity to experience the power of the credit union movement in a dynamic, eye-opening environment,” says James Marshall, manager of The Cooperative Trust. “Selected participants for Crash the GAC 2016 will return to their credit unions full of ideas, new industry connections, and the motivation to create positive change.”
