Conference organizers for "Walk This Way" have intentionally engaged young speakers or individuals working in the youth space who understand their audience and offer an authentic voice for important key industry topics and discussions. Like Filene Research Institute Impact Director Chad Helminak.

Helminak says credit unions have spent years trying to market to young adults and comparatively less time to engaging them—especially the young adults right within their ranks. But that's changing. His general session, "Making the Case for Youth Leadership in Credit Unions," will explore best practices and research that demonstrates the value young leaders can provide to credit unions, as well as what can be done to amplify these efforts within the industry.

As impact director, Helminak takes the best of Filene’s research and innovation and works with credit unions to implement key findings that affect their members and organization in meaningful ways. He brings nearly 10 years of credit union experience to Filene and most recently served as vice president of development at the Wisconsin Credit Union League.

Over the years, Helminak has directed state and national projects involving credit union advocacy, public relations, community and member outreach, and young professional development. He is also certified as a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) and has mentored CUDE programs for industry leaders in the United States and Africa. And he was recognized as a Trailblazer 40 Below by Credit Union Times and earned a Rock Star Award from Credit Union Magazine.

If you're a credit union professional aged 35 and under who's tuned in to the cooperative movement, plugged in to the CU philosophy of people helping people, and ready to demonstrate what the credit union difference means in your community, don't miss out on this opportunity.

Sign up now, before early bird registration ends July 22.
