You're Invited to Cornerstone's New Onboarding Training for CU Staff
Monday, March 13, 2017 6:50 AM

Cornerstone Credit Union League has announced a new onboarding series for credit union staff called "Credit Unions 101: Enhanced Learning for Credit Union Employees." This is a dues-supported service and is therefore available at no additional cost to viewers.

Credit Unions 101 is a four-module learning system with support materials to help the new employee learn about the credit union movement or as a refresher for a more tenured employee.

Viewers can watch the four short modules online from the comfort of their own desks. The modules range from 3-10 minutes and include links to support materials that viewers can print. The modules are:

  • The Credit Union Difference
On the surface, credit unions and banks may seem very similar. Both offer similar financial services like checking and saving accounts, credit and debit cards, and auto loans; however if you look a little deeper, you’ll begin to see the many differences.

  • Principles and Philosophy
Credit Union Operating Principles are founded in the philosophy of cooperation and its central values of equality, equity and mutual self-help. Recognizing the varied practices in the implementation of credit union philosophy around the world, at the heart of these principles is the concept of human development and the unification of communities expressed through people working together to achieve a better life for themselves and their community.

  • Credit Union History
The credit union movement was built on a deep foundation of values and principles by dedicated leaders that believed strongly in the cooperative system. These values and principles are still applicable today.

  • League Benefits and Available Services
There is real value in Cornerstone Credit Union League membership, value that comes with a full suite of services to meet the needs of its member credit unions. The Cornerstone Credit Union League is committed to protecting its member credit unions while promoting their growth, strength, and unity.

You can find the CU 101 Training on Cornerstone's website in the Education section under Online Training. Or, you can begin watching the modules here.

Spread the word, and save the link for your staff.  If you would like to have a Cornerstone staff member present these to your staff or volunteers, please contact Senior Vice President of Credit Union Relations Mike Delker at mdelker@cornerstoneleague.coop, or at 800-442-5762, ext. 6826.
