You Asked for it: Cornerstone Home Equity Lending Seminar in Texas

In response to popular demand, Cornerstone Credit Union League is now offering a half-day Home Equity Lending Seminar in Dallas presented by attorney Tom Duke with Blalack & Williams, PC.  

This seminar is for Texas state and federal credit unions. The seminar includes rules for permissible lending against member homestead under the Texas Constitution and statutes, a step-by-step analysis of the Texas constitutional amendment containing the legal requirements for a Texas home equity loan, rules for curing errors in existing home equity loans, and collection and foreclosure. The seminar is also structured to allow the speaker a maximum amount of time for discussion of individual questions and concerns.

Please note that this half-day seminar does not address HELOCs or questions pertaining to the new truth-in-lending combined disclosures.

Tom DukeYour presenter, Tom Duke, has practiced law with Blalack & Williams since 1996 and has more than two decades of experience in the financial services industry. He has assisted clients with diverse real estate projects, foreclosure on mortgage and home equity loans, and the development of documents for consumer investment and rental property loans. Duke also assists clients in their review of vendor contracts and loan agreements. His areas of practice include credit union and consumer finance law, commercial and residential real estate law, transactions and contracts, and seminars and training.

During the banking crisis of the early 1990s, Duke was employed by the FDIC to document the foreclosure and sale of numerous and sizeable commercial and residential real estate properties

Duke has a BA from Austin College and a JD from Baylor University School of Law.
