Vote on S.2155 Looms—Call Your Reps and Tell Them to Vote Yes
Wednesday, May 9, 2018 7:00 AM

Thanks to the efforts of credit union advocates, Cornerstone, and CUNA, the vote for passage of significant regulatory relief is visible on the horizon. Cornerstone encourages all credit unions to contact their legislators in the House for another push to ensure they vote yes when the bill comes to the floor.

Yesterday, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said the House will vote on the bipartisan Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155). During his press conference, Ryan also said the House and Senate are working on additional regulatory relief legislation.

Here's how you can help:

  • Contact your rep. CUNA's Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation Relief website makes it easy.
  • Post your support on social media. Tag your representative and add #CommonSenseReg.
  • Ask your friends, coworkers, and members to do the same.

“I urge all credit unions to contact their representatives in Congress to vote yes on this substantial regulatory reform,” said Caroline Willard, president/CEO of Cornerstone Credit Union League. “We’ve come so far. An opportunity like this is rare and the stakes are high, so it's critical we show a massive wave of credit union support to push this bill over the finish line. Please contact your representatives today!"

CUNA and Cornerstone are encouraging credit unions to sign up for and use its Member Activation Program (MAP) to activate credit union members to contact Congress and urge them to support the bill, as well as the Campaign for Common-Sense Regulation website

By working together, we'll achieve real, significant regulation relief, so we can better serve our members and improve our communities.
